GRAPHITE-PTFE MATERIALS
Basic materials include carbon graphite, graphite, and resin bonded graphite, which – depending on the application – are refined by impregnation (with antimony or resin). The application includes wet running, dry running, and mixed running. Typically, carbon bearings and sliding elements are used in applications where, for a variety of reasons, there is no lubrication. Possible fields of application include:
- textile processing equipment,
- food processing equipment,
- high temperature environments,
- offshore drilling rigs.
BLANKS
Our carbon and graphite materials are used in a number of industrial applications. Important properties of our materials include:
- high chemical and thermal resistance,
- good thermal conductivity,
- good lubricating properties,
- long service life.
These properties make carbon an indispensable ingredient capable of solving multiple technological and design-related issues. Our materials are made to order for applications such as compressors, sealing technologies, as well as pump and bearing manufacturing. Many years of experience have given us the know-how to adapt our materials to the requirements of our customers. The standard carbon tube and blank range is geared towards the needs of our customers. We offer a well-balanced portfolio of products, materials, and impregnations.
PUMPS TRANSPORTING LIQUID MEDIA
The exceptionally good sliding properties and chemical resistance of carbon- and graphite-based materials make them a good choice for manufacturing seals and bearings operating in liquid environments, when the operating temperature exceeds the temperature of lubricating oils, when the resistance of other materials to corrosion is insufficient or when media with poor lubricating properties are transported, such as water or fuels. This is ensured by high resistance properties, low density, low absorbability, quiet operation, high chemical resistance to organic and inorganic solvents, self-lubrication, low abrasibility, and stability of properties in a wide range of temperatures. The materials are manufactured by die-moulding of carbon powders with a grain size below 0.06 mm. After baking and graphitization the materials are machined. Depending on the application, the vanes can be impregnated with synthetic resins or fusible metal alloys.
Fields of application:
- printing machines,
- packing machines,
- fresh air pumps,
- silos,
- automotive pumps for central locking systems,
- medical equipment,
- gas analysis pumps,
- brake servomechanisms,
- pneumatic tensioning devices.
STEAM JOINTS
Materials for steam joints are manufactured by die-moulding of carbon powders with a grain size below 0.06 mm. After baking and graphitization the materials are machined. Depending on the application, the joints can be impregnated with synthetic resins or fusible metal alloys. These materials show very good resistance parameters, high apparent density, low absorbability, high chemical resistance, self-lubrication, low abrasibility, and stability of properties in a wide range of temperatures. Joint elements seal the steam pipe and the rotating assembly, such as a cylinder or shaft. These elements seal water, steam, and oils. They also compensate for the oscillating, swing, and rotational movement. This compensation is typically provided by using a sealing ring with a concave or convex sealing face, which is pushed against the sealing surface with a spring. Some designs also feature a cylindrical wear surface. Steam joints can be used in all lubrication conditions, including wet running, dry running, and mixed running.
Steam joints are used in steam head glands in the paper industry, rubber industry, plastic industry, etc. The type of material used depends on the operating conditions. Basic materials for dynamic seals include carbon graphite, graphite, and resin bonded graphite, which – depending on the application – are refined by impregnation (with antimony or resin). The use includes wet running and dry running,
as well as mixed running.

CARBON AND GRAPHITE PRODUCTS FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
We provide carbon and graphite materials for the automotive and mechanical engineering industries. Our products are used by manufacturers of compressors, mechanical seals, pumps, and other mechanical devices which use sliding components.
We strive to fully satisfy the requirements of these industries and meet the individual needs of our customers in the be.
MECHANICAL SEALS
Mechanical seals generally include the following elements:
- sealing ring,
- counterface,
- spring element serving to obtain the required contact pressure.
The properties of carbon and graphite are well suited for use as sealing rings. Our sealing rings show high wear resistance, corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, and good dry running properties.
Carbon and graphite materials are used in mechanical seals where gases or liquids with low hydrodynamic lubricating properties have to be sealed.
Fields of application:
- fuel pumps,
- chemical pumps,
- process pumps in refineries,
- seals for agitators and autoclaves,
- cold and hot water pumps,
- pumps for household and garden appliances,
- automotive cooling water pumps,
- heat-removal loop pumps in nuclear reactors,
- pumps for the beverage industry.
METAL-IMPREGNATED FINE-GRAIN MATERIALS
The materials are manufactured by die-moulding of powders with a grain size below 0.06 mm. After baking or graphitizing, they are impregnated with fusible metal alloys, i.e. L83 tin-bearing alloy or OT-9 lead-antimony alloy or antimony.
These materials show high resistance parameters, high apparent density, low absorbability, high chemical resistance to organic and inorganic solvents, self-lubrication, low abrasibility, and stability of properties in a wide range of temperatures.
Metal-impregnated carbon materials are used in the manufacturing of head seals of impeller pumps, compressors, and rotary parts of chemical equipment. Metal-impregnated graphite materials are used in the manufacturing of gliding sleeves, rings, self-lubricating bearings, rollers, and other rota.
RESIN-IMPREGNATED FINE-GRAIN MATERIALS
The materials are manufactured by die-moulding of powders with a grain size below 0.06 mm. After baking or graphitizing, they are impregnated with type F or type E synthetic resins.
The materials show high resistance parameters, high apparent density, very low absorbability, stability of properties up to 180°C, and chemical resistance to organic and inorganic acids, salt up to 180°C, and alkalis up to 40% and 70°C, and solvents.
The materials can be used in aggressive environments with increased temperatures and dustiness, e.g. parts of sealing rings, sleeves, glands, vanes for pumps, turbines, blowers and compressors, bearings, and rollers in the textile and glass industries.
GRAPHITE-PTFE MATERIALS
Materials with special properties manufactured using PTFE, carbon and graphite filler, and modifying additives, e.g. bronze powder or molybdenum disulfate.
The materials are resistant to all the substances with the exception of active metals and elementary fluorine and show thermal resistance from -200°C up to +250°C, higher thermal conductivity in comparison with pure PTFE, minimum friction, physiological neutrality, and good machining properties.
Fields of application:
- self-lubricating bearings,
- self-lubricating sealing rings for compressors,
- V-seals,
- valve balls,
- fittings,
- pump parts,
- filtering membranes.
