GRAPHITE CARBURIZERS

Due to the following properties:

  • high current-carrying capacity,
  • high thermal shock resistance,
  • high mechanical strength which increases with temperature,
  • good oxidation resistance,
  • very low resistance in contacts,

our graphite is an ideal material for heating elements in vacuum steel degassing plants, as well as in melting furnaces and holding furnaces.

Good thermal conductivity, erosion and corrosion resistance, dimensional stability even at high temperatures made graphite the material of choice for mould elements, the so-called chills. The metallurgical industry also uses other graphite elements, such as plugs, distributors, tapping spouts, protection parts for thermoelements, etc. One of the application examples is the use of graphite plugs for the manufacturing of cylindrical sleeves and centrifugal casting of piston ring.

The following properties of graphite:

  • high current-carrying capacity,
  • fine-grain structure with high density,
  • high resistance,
  • high mechanical strength which increases with temperature

GRAPHITE FOR THE ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY

Cracks, voids, and impurities in non-ferrous metal castings are mainly due to oxide impurities and excessive hydrogen content in the melt. Passing a gas through the melt before casting considerably improves quality with efficient mould-filling and flaw-free casting.

With gas refining, gas bubbles eliminate impurities and remove hydrogen from the melt. The type of purifying gas is determined by the local plant technology and the alloying components of the melt. Chlorine, nitrogen, argon or a mixture of these gases have all proved effective in the aluminium industry. The following properties made graphite an ideal choice for injecting gas into the melt:

  • high thermal shock resistance,
  • high mechanical strength,
  • chemical resistance,
  • dimensional stability at high temperatures,
  • low coefficient of expansion,
  • non-wettable by metal melts.

Our graphites do not contain any impurities that are soluble in non-ferrous metal melts. We supply both blanks (tubes, rollers, etc.) and complete systems. Special graphite impregnation is possible, which provides additional oxidation protection.

GRAPHITES FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

The continuous casting of non-ferrous metals, precious metals, grey cast iron, and ductile iron has developed in many countries thanks to the unique properties of graphite, most importantly:

  • high density,
  • high mechanical strength and dimensional stability,
  • high thermal shock resistance,
  • low permeability,
  • good oxidation resistance,
  • minimal wettability by molten metal,
  • good lubricating properties.

Graphites used in continuous casting processes are formed in isostatic presses in cylindrical and rectangular form. Ready-made products such as crystallizers, crucibles, distributors, etc., precision-machined to customer specification are also available.

The following properties of graphite:

  • homogenous structure,
  • dimensional stability at high temperatures,
  • high thermal conductivity,
  • high chemical purity with a minimum iron content,
  • high thermal stability,
  • good sliding properties,

made graphite the material of choice for metal powder sintering processes in diamond tool production.

Graphites are supplied as ready-made sintering forms, contact plates, wafers, boxes, etc.,

or as blank materials (blocks, rollers, etc.).

GRAPHITE CARBURIZERS

These materials have a high carbon content (70-99%) and are used in metallurgical processes as a carburizing agent or as a support material for pig iron defoaming. It is one of the raw materials used in steel melting as raw materials for thorough carburizing during secondary steelmaking. Further areas of graphite carburizer application include slag foaming when melting steel in an electric arc furnace as an additive to moulding compositions, moulding sand ingredient, and pin element in the production of steel and casting.
